An Introduction to Studio Lighting.

Marko provides photographic training for a number of professional organisations such as the SWPP and the MPA.He is in the process of creating a whole new programme of lighting courses for 2015 and yesterday members of Frome Wessex Camera Club attended an introductory day at the studio.

They spend that money by supporting research at universities in the West of England and South Wales. All the research they support has been peer reviewed and assessed by a committee that includes senior scientists.

Thermae Bath Spa.

One of the most interesting commissions that Marko regularly receives is to photograph for the Thermae Bath Spa.
Having used the Spa on many occasions-a fantastic way to wind down after a long day of photography, Marko considers himself an "Expert" on this fabulous place and his "in-depth" knowledge is put to great use thinking of interesting new ways to light the various treatments to show them at their luxurious best!
It also helps when the marketing team of Peter,Charlotte and Alex are always looking for a creative solution to their brief. Additionally all the staff at the Thermae Bath Spa are always incredibly helpful.

Marko regularly lectures and judges for the SWPP.
He has been working around the UK, Exeter,Cardiff and next month Milton Keynes.
This last weekend he was providing two Masterclasses for them at The National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, as well as being part of the Judging Panel for Fellowships.
On the Sunday Marko presented a seminar entitled "Rock God Photography" During the two hour slot Marko showed how to take the normal "rules" of portrait photography and break them down to give a far more individual approach and style. This look is far more akin to the shooting styles of Rock, Hip-Hop and Rap photography and gives a far feistier and cutting edge look to the portraits.
His fantastic model was Loretta Hope who was more than equal to the challenge and as always put huge amounts of commitment and energy into the shoot. Here's a selection of images from the shoot....

The Artful Chocolatier-September 2014.

I love chocolate! Who doesn't? So when your partner sets up as a chocolatier and begins to create the most fantastic, delicious and amazingly creative chocolate range well what is a photographer to do?

The fact that her office and production centre is now right above the studio is of course nothing but an advantage! I have made myself available as official taster and opinion former and of course it is a pleasure to help in any small way that I can.
Nikki, or as she is now officially known Dr Nicola Donovan.Phd, is now creating the most incredible chocolate range.
It is early days but she has been attending a number of fairs and festivals to market test and has already received a great many plaudits.The chocolate range consists of lollies,buttons,bars and gift packs and is made from the finest Belgian chocolate.
After extensive tasting I can guarantee that they taste really delicious.
You can buy from the range at The Cook Shop,Whiteladies Rd,Clifton, Bristol on special open days there.

Nikki is also creating corporate gifts for launches and other events.The amazing Le Cagnard Hotel in Haut Du Cagnes on the French Riviera now supplies her chocolates to their very exclusive guests,(think Robert DeNiro and Prince Albert of Monaco) and she will be providing gifts for the launch of the new Mini 5 door at Wellsway, Bath on 23rd October 2014.
Best of all we will be having an Opening Evening at the Studio on 6th November 2014 to introduce Studio Marko's clients to The Artful Chocolatier. We are also using the evening to welcome
Jo Bowden of Shiny Rubbie People, (shinyrubbiepeople.co.uk),(@shinyrubbie),(www.facebook.com/shinyrubbiepeople), to our studio.

Jo is sharing the space upstairs with Nikki and makes the most amazing cakes for weddings,birthdays and pretty much anything that you want to celebrate. I have of course also enlisted as official cake taster for Jo as well. Good job I don't put on weight!!
