At the going down of the sun photography project-Professional Imagemaker Magazine-November 2016

I am now halfway through the project time for At the going down of the sun photography exhibition.
The final collection of images will be installed throughout Bristol Cathedral in September/October/November of 2018.
It's really exciting that an article has been written about the project so far in the November issue of The Professional Imagemaker magazine.
This magazine goes out to 1000's of members of the SWPP and also promotes the seminar about the project that I will be presenting at the SWPP Convention in London 2017.
The article is below...

Bristol Cathedral-At the going down of the sun photography project.

Bristol Cathedral -2018.
At the going down of the sun photography project is very proud to announce that the final collection of images from this project will be exhibited at Bristol Cathedral.
The exhibition will run from 7th September 2018 until 23rd November 2018.
It will form the main focus of the Cathedral’s commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War 1.
It is a very proud moment to be part of such an important recognition of the sacrifice of so many people.
The Cathedral was originally founded in 1160 and it is an amazing feeling that these pictures are to become temporarily a part of this 856-year-old, Grade One listed building that is such a central part of the Bristol Community.
The architecture of the building also enables the project’s images to interact with the building itself adding a greater richness to the installation.
The images will be installed throughout the Cathedral and it’s various chapels.
As these areas are themed, i.e., Lady Chapel, Seafarer’s Chapel, etc it will mean that the images can be displayed so that their themes can be seen against a specific historical and contextual background.
As the Cathedral is also a grave site and has a great many historical memorials I hope it will be a fitting tribute to the ordinary men and women who lost their lives in conflict and who will be remembered among the great and good of Bristol past right within the heart of their community.
I would be really grateful if you are able to share this page’s details with your friends so that they too can Like the page.

I hope to keep as many people as possible informed of all the many, new developments between now and September 2018 and so ensure that when the exhibition opens the largest audience possible will be able to see it.
Below are images of some of the areas that the exhibition will be installed in....

June 2016.
Tears of a Clown Part 2.

It's been such a busy month I almost forgot to put these two images up from an ongoing project, "Tears of a Clown" with my good friend Nigel. Here he is photographed with both of my lovely if somewhat badly behaved dogs Ivan & Elvis. The latter image won a Highly Commended Award in the SWPP's May Monthly Competition.

16th June 2016.

Liz, Gordon, Alex, Chris, Emily, Nick, Molly, Bendy.

I get lots of wonderful families in for portrait sessions at Studio Marko. This is one example of one of my favourite recent families who came through one of our favourie referral companies. It was a joy to photograph three generations and their wonderful Labradors and to capture such a special moment in all of their lives. I created two fantastic multi-print composites for each family and received this wonderful testimonial after they had received their orders...
"Dear Marko,
We are delighted with the pictures of Molly and Bendy and the family. They are being appreciated by many, especially our other daughter, Nicky, who loves hers.
Thank you so much for producing such a beautiful memento of two happy visits to your studio and a special thank you to your partner for giving Emily and Nick such fun making the chocolate.
Now Molly can grow old and grey gracefully! Bendy has a head start with the white on her chest.
Warm best wishes, Gordon and Liz and all the family."

Gold Award-May 2016.

Really, really pleased to have been awarded a Gold award in this month's SWPP Awards. This is a portrait of my good friend Nigel dressed as a clown and is part of an ongoing project called "Tears of a Clown."
Huge thanks must also go to Nigel for his ability to look incredibly sad whilst keeping us giggling throughout the session and to my lovely partner Nikki for her expressive and creative MUA skills. Congratulations to all the other Gold and Highly Commended entrants.
